A BEAUTIFUL CHANGE OF SCENERY

2/18/2017
I don't know about everyone else, but the Internet can be exhausting. Then, like walking down a dilapidated street you turn the corner and find a great treasure. That is how I felt when I saw these photos from Dave Sandford, a phenomenal photographer in my opinion.

To me it is the rare individual who goes further than the majority for the love of their craft. Dave Sandford is that artist and I am glad he is recognized for his talent and ability.

Below are some of his photos from his series titled, "Liquid Mountain."
Lake Erie when winds are blowing 70 + mph and waves reach heights of 30 feet or more.

Live a Healthier Life-Write

Sometimes just sitting down with a notepad and a pen and writing can be one of the healthiest activities in one's life. Not only will help the mind and the spirit, but also the body. In previous posts, I have eluded to the gratification I have felt not only in the course of writing a novel but finishing and publishing also.

Recently I read two articles, one from Baihley Grandison is the assistant editor of Writer’s Digest and a freelance writer. "11 Reasons Writing is Good for Your Health," and an earlier article from Amanda L. Chan Managing Editor, Healthy Living posted on the Huffington Post, "6 Unexpected Ways Writing Can Transform Your Health."

Their articles have one strong message in common. The benefits of writing and your health. Two examples from Ms. Chan's article,

"Writing down your thoughts and feelings after a traumatic event can actually make physical wounds heal faster, according to a study from New Zealand researchers. & A 2008 study in the journal The Oncologist showed that expressive writing could help cancer patients not only think about their disease in a different way, but also improve their quality of life."

Although Ms. Grandison's article is a reprint of an infographic from Global English Editing, it shows how writing is emotionally and physically beneficial.

For well over a year I have blogged about the challenges of writing fiction. I have shared my achievements and my ups and downs of writing and publishing. I will continue forward and urge all who have ever had the desire to write to just do it, stop procrastinating!

    Author

    Robert Stephen.
What makes a writer? What do you envision when you think about that question?

Someone sitting by an open window looking out over the ocean, desert, mountains? Rainy day, foggy, sunny?

My definition of a writer of fiction. A person who drives himself or herself to the edge of insanity when writing a story to the best of their ability that you the reader find entertaining.

I can honestly say my life has been interesting, far from boring.  Land baron, restaurateur, photographer, artisan, author. A life full of ups and downs. A life full of stories.

Along the way I've met hundreds of people, some interesting, some not. Some dangerous, some beautiful, some kind, and some cruel. During my lifetime I've even had my heart run over a couple of times, but when all of it is said and done I wouldn't trade it in.

Writing has always been inside of me, but the siren never called to me. I wasn't ready until one day in October of 2015 when life said, "Start writing."

Writing is a long journey, full of many perils, but don't be afraid it is an exciting adventure!
